The University of Queensland, School of Integration Biology Insectary

The University of Queensland commissioned DM2 Architecture to undertake the design of their new Insectary, including the construction of a QIC3 and QIC2 Quarenting Spaces to further research into Dengue Fever.

The laboratory is one of only a few highly specialised QIC3 facilities in South East Queensland, with the containment of research mosquitoes being the scientists’ highest priority.

A key consideration for the laboratory design was the need to create three large, constant temperature rooms which recreate North Queensland temperatures and simulate both dawn and dusk conditions.
