McDonald's Smithfield

Projects / Hospitality and Retail

This major redevelopment sought to reset the restaurant’s operational platform, addressing siting challenges to improve infrastructure, workflow and ultimately the future capacity of the store. As a result of the back of house alterations a full dining room upgrade was also undertaken. Amongst the alterations and additions, the restaurant’s McCafe was repositioned, the sales counter was reorientated, the drive Thru operation enhanced and carpark capacity increased.  A focus on place making and zoning led to a site specific dining response containing a mix of booth, banquette and individual seating, so that “a place for me” could be provided for all patrons. The revised décor and heightened volumes of the store frontage enhances the north Queensland relaxed ambiance, whilst encouraging visual connectivity within the store to the surrounding environment.
