The project involved a modern extension to the existing restaurant to incorporate a McCafe area, as well as a general upgrade internally. The new building extension allowed the McCafe to have a 4 metre high ceiling with a large glazed wall to let in natural light. This modern box shaped extension gave a visual change externally and worked as a beacon to road traffic at night when it was illuminated.
Colour Palette
The colour palette internally used muted tones with the textured finishes such as timber and tiles to give the space to life. McDonalds Australia was impressed with the upgrade and dm2 won best McDonalds restaurant refurbishment in Queensland for 2009.
