Client: University of Queensland
The project sought to create an innovative self-directed learning space for Vetinary students to practise clinical skills in a mock setting accessible on a 24-7 basis. The Laboratory included consultation rooms and an interactive laboratory space for practise and instruction on model animals. The teaching and clinic spaces incorporated audio visual systems to support student instruction and independent learning models. The laboratory’s new shopfront showcases the interior setting as a ‘stage’ presenting to the building’s central courtyard, transforming the banal retaining wall into a tiered intimate ‘amphitheatre’ that provides observation of the laboratory’s activities while creating an additional external informal teaching zone.
