This small suburban retail development is positioned to the edge of a larger retail precinct and as such needed to create a point of difference and appeal to the local community to ensure its success. The design was anchored by a fast food operator’s requirement which directed the overall design in relation to vehicle circulation. In addition to the primary tenant we were able to create a second wing to the development to accommodate further tenancies and increase the appeal of the centre. The built form introduced opposing skillion roofs to align the scale of the buildings with the adjacent residences while maximising exposure for signage and provide a striking angular street elevation. The planning also had the benefit of creating outdoor seating to the North-East allowing the tenancies to take advantage of the SE Qld’s benign climate and further enhance street activation.
